We expected Glendale to be our toughest competitor and they didn't disappoint us. Jessica Smith joined us for this match to fill in for Shanna while she recovers.
Number two doubles (Gia and Meghan) had a tough time again and lost a quick match putting us down 0-1. Both number one (Melanie and Lindsey) and three doubles (Kim and Jessica) were up a break 7-6 and were serving for the match...and got broken putting both courts at 7-all. Number three wasn't able to recover from the loss of momentum and lost 7-9. We were now at 0-2 and in a tie breaker for the number one doubles spot. Melanie and Lindsey dominated the tie breaker and gave us hope for singles.
Melanie, Gia and Lindsey again cruised through their matches putting us at 3-2 again. We needed a win from any court 4-6. Meghan was locked in a tight first set. Jessica had a tough opponent and lost her match. Kim was also in a tight set and was able to pull it out. Meghan also won her first set putting us in good position to win the match. Kim played and excellent second set that put us up 5-3 assuring the win. Meghan was in another tough set and wasn't able to pull it out. Glendale opted for playing a tie breaker for the third set and Meghan lost 10-8.
Once again we won 5-4, not the score we wanted but we'll take the win. That puts us at 2-0 on the season.
Next week we will be playing a double header at home. Pima at 9:30 am and Mesa at 1:30 pm.
